One in three decision-makers in wholesale and retail, industry, transportation, and storage (34%) indicates that advanced data analysis and predictive analytics have not yet been integrated into their ERP system. This is evident from the IT impact study by Conclusion MBS among nearly 500 (co)decision-makers and final responsible parties in wholesale and retail, industry, transportation, and storage. The study also shows that automated customer communication and marketing (22%), real-time inventory management and tracking (22%) are still not available in many systems. Finally, 18 percent of decision-makers indicated that customer service is not integrated into their ERP solution.

Productivity does increase

Despite the lack of advanced features, as many as 55 percent of decision-makers see a significant increase in productivity thanks to the use of their ERP system. In a third of the companies (29%), this productivity increase even amounts to an increase of eleven to fifteen percent.

ERP system improves efficiency and decision-making

In addition to productivity gains, an ERP system also offers numerous other strategic advantages that further enhance efficiency and decision-making within organizations. For instance, 78 percent of decision-makers indicate that they can measure operational efficiency thanks to the system. Moreover, the system provides valuable insights: nearly three-quarters of decision-makers (72%) say that companies without an ERP system miss out on important insights. Furthermore, seventy percent of decision-makers state that they can make better decisions by using ERP.

René Altena, CTO at Conclusion MBS, explains the research results: 'Although many companies clearly see the benefits of ERP systems, it remains important to look at the full potential of these systems. It is not just about productivity increases, but also about leveraging data and insights that help companies anticipate changes in real-time and make better decisions. The future of ERP lies in further integrating advanced technologies such as predictive analytics and AI, which allow companies to work more efficiently and gain a strategic advantage in a rapidly changing market.'
