Tijdens een bijzondere 2-daagse tour door meerdere dorpjes langs een rivier buiten Mrauk U in Myanmar, bezocht ik oudere vrouwen met tatoeages in hun gezicht. Tussendoor werd ik keer op keer vrolijk benaderd door nieuwsgierige kinderen zoals dit jongetje. Kenmerkend voor Myanmar is de thanaka-schmink op het gezicht, met name bij vrouwen en kinderen.
