't is een 'stadsreus', een onschuldig diertje dat leeft van nectar en stuifmeel, zoals alle zweefvliegen. Hij/zij is even onschuldig als slim. Deze zweefvlieg heeft heel slim de hoornaar nagebootst, een grote wesp,de stadsreus is dus een 'nepwesp'.
