Door een wassende maan (1e kwartier) te combineren met een volle maan krijg je een soort 3D effect doordat de kraters nu zichtbaar zijn die je normaal gesproken niet ziet bij een volle maan. (Je ziet ze wel, maar zonder schaduw).
