In the district in the province of Udon Thani is the Kumphawapi Nong Harn Lake, a shallow (about 1 meter) of water more than 4 km² of 1.7 km², surrounded by wetlands and rice fields.
It is an important source of water for the Nam Pao River. From October to March is the enormous freshwater lake lead a life of its own and is then transformed into a sea of flowers of red water lilies. It's then a beautiful recreation area for the people in the neighborhood. From the village of Ban Diem one can with a boat ride around the Lake.
