De Ponte de Abril 25 lijkt niet alleen op de Golden Gate Bridge maar is ook door dezelfde makers gebouwd. Allemaal in opdracht van Salazar. Hij heete eerst ook Ponte Salazar maar daar kwam acht jaar na de ingebruikname een eind aan door de Anjerrevolutie die uitbrak op 25 april 1974.
